437 Inspection Report/ Repairs
Further to Lancaster City Council’s (Lancaster CC) playground inspection and Councillor Bennett’s subsequent inspection Councillor Bennett had circulated a written report to Members in advance of the meeting, his report was noted and a verbal update given:
1. Junior Multi-unit – Councillor Bennett has replaced two anti-snag cap covers. RESOLVED that Councillor Bennett meet with Mr Stefan Laws and point out the areas in need of sanding down and filling and that Councilor Bennett ask Playdale (initially) for their price for the eventual renewal of the unit;
2. Wooden log train – it was noted that this is deteriorating more than the other pieces of equipment and that its replacement should be considered before too long – perhaps with a different item;
3. Trim Trail – Lancaster CC’s report has identified rot in various places. RESOLVED that Councillor Bennett join the Lancaster CC Inspector on his next inspection (due in March);
4. Gate at entrance to playground – RESOLVED that Councillor Bennett check on Mr Paul Holgate’s progress regarding a new gate (and the costs involved), and if Mr Holgate is unable to fit a gate by 28th February, that the parish council go ahead and order the RoSPA compliant gate which was discussed and agreed at the meeting of the Playground Charity Trustees on 3rd October last year (at a cost of £813 + VAT plus delivery charge);
5. Aerial slide (runway surfacing) – the Clerk reported that Lancaster CC have given a rough estimate of £3,000 to dig out the woodchip, add top soil, lay grass mats with under matting and either turf or seed over. RESOLVED that the Clerk obtain quotations for the work for the next meeting of the Trustees with a view to this being carried out around the beginning of May.
438 Financing of Repairs
RESOLVED to pay £800 for fitting a new gate in the children’s playground from capital funds (if necessary).
439 Date of Next Meeting
Monday, 5th March 2017.
