225 Minutes of Previous Meeting
The Minutes of the Ordinary meeting of the Playground Charity Trustees held on Thursday, 9th May 2013 were approved then signed by the Chairman.
226 Receipt of Information about Matters Arising from the Minutes of Previous Meetings, not Covered by the Agenda
227 Receipt of Declarations of Trustees’ Interests Relating to any Items Appearing on the Agenda
228 Matters Raised by Members of the Public for Future Consideration
The member of public commented that: 1. young people have been seen consuming alcohol on the playing field which is felt to be inappropriate in the vicinity of young children; 2. the grass cuttings are now being taken away which is considered to be a big improvement.
229 Annual Accounts
RESOLVED to approve the annual accounts for the playground (2012/13) which had been circulated with the agenda. It was noted that since 31st March a grant for £450 (towards the cost of the membrane and rubber chips, under the Lancashire County Council’s (Lancs. CC) Local Members’ Grant Scheme) has been added and that permission must be sought if the money is to be used for anything else.
230 Trip Hazards
It was noted that Lancaster City Council (Lancaster CC) will fill in the gaps between the original wet pour and wooden strips with wet pour from the allowance of the £100 that is allocated to parishes. The actual cost is £103.00 but Lancaster CC will waive the £3.00 extra cost.
231 Aerial Runway
It was noted that: 1. Mr. Paul Cocker, Operations Manager for Lancaster CC Contract Services, has advised that shredded timber would be acceptable for the aerial runway but pointed out that depressions in the ground tend to be left where the zip wire is dismounted, thus woodchip needs to be continuously raked back to the correct depth. The firm CPA Horticulture have quoted for the supply of hardwood play grade woodchip. RESOLVED to also ask the local firm, Jenkinson’s, for a quotation. The difficulties of moving a delivery of woodchip to the site of the aerial slide were discussed. RESOLVED to ask both firms if they can use a blower to deposit the woodchip or supply the woodchip in bags; 2. permission will need to be sought from Lancs. CC for using the grant (referred to in 229 above) for material other than a membrane and rubber chips. RESOLVED to pay for the woodchip from Council funds if it is not possible to use grant money.
RESOLVED that Councillor Ribbons enlist the help of volunteers to spread the woodchip once a date for delivery is set.
232 Date of Next Meeting
It was noted that the date of the next meeting is Monday, 2nd September 2013.
Sue D. Hayward, Deputy Clerk to the Trustees
